8/20/14

It's been a gorgeous week on the Conejos river. The sky is lovely and the weather is very cool. Where did all the crowds and stalwart fish warriors go? With schools starting, there is plenty of room on the river to take that last relaxing weekend before homework deadlines and student performances take over your calender. We have cabins and guides available if your planning on a late summer or fall trip. Give us a call and let us set you up.

The pocket water has been fishing great. Midges, baetis nymphs and worm patterns after rains have been working great. Flash bangs, zebra midges, rubber legs, pheasant tails and hare ears in the fly water. Para-wolfs and extended body BWO, red quills dries early and late.

Update on Jeannine, we are headed to Dallas o Sept 3rd to start chemo before another steam cell transplant. She will be in the hospital for 3 weeks and then 2 month stay in the blessing house before returning home. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers.

Isaac Dean is up on the Yampa this week to compete in a pro fly fishing competion. Troy went with Isaac to work as his "Caddy". We wish them both lots of luck. They will be back on Saturday and ready to get back to work in southern colorado. Give us a call and we can set you up on a guided trip with some great guides to help make you trip fish a little better.
Bob and Marshall Shepard made one of the annual trips last week with 5 other anglers and had a couple good days out with the guides fishing the Conejos, Lake Fork, Treasure Creek and the Los Pinos. It was great to have them here.

Sorry for not getting any news out that last few weeks. The fishing has been great on drys up in the meadows, The fish have crushed green drakes, mahogany's and PMD's. Golden stones from the south fork up through trail creek. The lower river is mostly nymphs but is still producing lots of nice browns., I have seen lots of 15 inch fish and several much larger. The fish are nice and fat. Still time to get over to southern Colorado and get in some fishing, Give us a call if you are looking for a guided trip and we can set you up with Jon, Troy, Isaac, KK or Randy. The back country is in prime season.

The store has lots of fly patterns to help make your trip successful so stop by and get whats hot when you get here. We have the new Scott radian rods in stock. What a great rod. It does it all.

I want to thank everyone for you support and prayers for Jeannine as she deals with her lymphoma. We are in Dallas today and will see the Dr. tomorrow about getting her into remission.

Hello my fellow anglers!  It time to get to the Conejos and get in some fishing. We are seeing and catching fish on Salmon fliesthis week.  The lower river has produced some nice fat browns this week. We have several imitation in stock that are working great. The hatch should continue to move up river and is a great time to get in on the dry fly action. The river from the middle RMAC up to to Platora is fishing great with stonefly and caddis nymphs. The release from platora is at 222 cfs this morning and has the river looking great. The flow at Magote is at 529 making wading alot easier in the lower river.
