It's been a gorgeous week on the Conejos river. The sky is lovely and the weather is very cool. Where did all the crowds and stalwart fish warriors go? With schools starting, there is plenty of room on the river to take that last relaxing weekend before homework deadlines and student performances take over your calender. The pocket water has been fishing great. Midges, baetis nymphs and worm patterns after rains have been working great. Flash bangs, zebra midges, rubber legs, pheasant tails and hare ears in the fly water. Para-wolfs and extended body BWO, red quills dries early and late.

Update on Jeannine, we are headed to Dallas o Sept 3rd to start chemo before another steam cell transplant. She will be in the hospital for 3 weeks and then 2 month stay in the blessing house before returning home. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers.

Hopper season has returned to the Conejos river. We have had some nice days in the "fly water" using hopper dropper rigs. Also seeing lots of mayflys, BWO, PMD's, Mahogany's patterns are catching fish. Stop by the shop we have several nice flies to match.
Isaac Dean is up on the Yampa this week to compete in a pro fly fishing competion. Troy went with Isaac to work as his "Caddy". We wish them both lots of luck. They will be back on Saturday and ready to get back to work in southern colorado. Bob and Marshall Shepard made one of the annual trips last week with 5 other anglers and had a couple good days out with the guides fishing the Conejos, Lake Fork, Treasure Creek and the Los Pinos. It was great to have them here.
